Direct manufacturing comes of age

The Australian manufacturing industry is currently undergoing a ‘digital manufacturing’ revolution,
where ‘direct’, or ‘additive’ manufacturing techniques are being increasingly adopted to solve complex
manufacturing problems. As a manufacturing technique, direct manufacturing offers dramatic savings in
labour, time, materials, and energy. It also offers significantly less adverse environmental impact, when
compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
