Mammoth SLA
Within Australia, Formero's SLA build capacity is 500 x 500 x 600mm, building prototype models with dimensions of more than 1 meter has an enormous impact on throughput time, costs and tolerances.
Consequently, Formero has access to ARRK's facility in Japan specifically for building extremely large models (2050 x 780 x 700mm), such as complete car interior parts, to provide customers with accurate models in an extremely fast time frame.
Mammoth SLA models are constructed layer by layer in a liquid polymer that hardens when struck by a laser beam. The built rapid prototype models offer greater strength and accuracy, when compared to traditional SLA models, as no join lines exist, minimising part movement and gluing inaccuracies.
Mammoth SLA models offers real, tangible benefits to our customers. Below is a comparison of a car interior dashboard being created on a standard SLA machine (500x500x600mm) versus a Mammoth SLA machine. The figures below speak for themselves.
| SLA 7000 | Mammoth SLA | |
| CAD Work | 40 hrs | 16 hrs |
| Build time (scanning + layer + deposition) | 1450 hrs | 515 hrs |
| Gluing + finish | 440 hrs | 250 hrs |
| Throughput time | 14 weeks | 5 weeks |
