Stereolithography (SLA)

Process

In order to build SLA master models, customers need to supply 3D CAD data in an STL format. The data is then sliced into layers and downloaded into the SLA machine. The high power UV laser solidifies a liquid epoxy resin one cross-sectional layer at a time to build a physical model that is both accurate and virtually limitless in attainable complexity.

    Materials

    Dura Max Ultra Clear SLA

    • Clear, Colourless and functionally strong
    • Optically clear when polished, ideal for lenses, light pipes, botles and other clear cover applications 
    • Mirrors the behaviour of a clear acrylic part, ideal for producing functional, crystal clear-like prototypes. 

     

    Dura Max Next SLA

    • Opaque white appearance
    • Contains good temperature resistance and can be heat treated
    • Ideal for use in functional testing applications with snap-fit designs, impellers, duct work, connectors, electronic covers housing and packaging designs.

     

    Finish

    Formero's attention to detail and superior finishing is unsurpassed. We provide four levels of finishing:

    • Concept -Support removed and sanded with a light bead blast all over. Ideal for concept validation.
    • Premium - All surfaces (exterior + interior) are finished to a high quality. Recommended for projects that are visual and require critical fitment to meet tolerances of +/-0.1mm to 0.2mm per 100mm.
    • Engineering - All exterior surfaces are finished to a high quality. Recommended for projects that require critical fitment to meet tolerances of +/-0.1mm to 0.2mm per 100mm.
    • Custom - High level of polishing for clear components
