plastic injection moulding

Plastic Injection moulding is used to produce large quantities of identical parts, for example electronic components and medical device components.  The process can also mould large items like car dash boards.

Formero has offered their Injection Moulding Tooling service in Australia and NZ for over 18 years.  Over these years Formero has built strong relationships with manufacturing partners’ worldwide, matching customer requirements with our supplier capabilities to deliver on-time and within budget.

Many of you will have heard about the ‘China Challenge’ stories that product developers experience when trying to outsource their Injection Moulding parts in China for a cheaper price.  There are many outsourcing pitfalls, such as language barriers, negotiation difficulties, copy right, quality and delivery issues to name a few.

China facility and our Australian headquarters

Formero has a team on site in Formero’s China facility and our Australian headquarters who can take your project through all stages of manufacturing.  Most importantly, every injection moulding quote receives a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis provided by a dedicated project manager.  The benefit of DFM at the start of a project is to minimise the capital expenditure and reduce the overall product cost by review of materials selection and manufacturing process.

Time is money and companies tend to overlook the time it takes to manage offshore manufacturing, time better spent making sure your product captures greater market share.

Formero works with a diverse customer base from start ups to multinational corporations offering a range of Plastic Injection Moulding and Plastic Manufacturing services such as:

  • Die cutting
  • Compression moulding
  • Vacuum forming
  • Plastic blow moulding
  • Plastic extrusion
  • Thin-wall
  • Over moulding
  • Double-shot
  • Insert moulding
  • CNC production
  • IMD (in mould decoration)
  • IML (in mould labelling)

Formero is experienced in supplying customers with Plastic Injection Moulding services and we have also had huge success with compression moulding and over moulding services.

Compression moulding

Compression moulding is a high-volume, high-pressure process that is suitable for moulding complex, high strength parts.  The advantage of compression moulding is its ability to mould large, detailed parts. Compression molding produces fewer knit lines and less fibre-length degradation than injection moulding.  It also offers a short cycle time and high production rate that is appealing to many industries.

Cochlear, a world leader in advanced hearing loss solutions engaged Formero’s compression moulding process for the development of components in their Recipient Kit, as demonstrated below:

Over moulding

Over moulding is the process of injection moulding plastic in and around another moulding or component to fully or partially encapsulate it. Over molding is often used to provide insulation around components containing PCBs and electrical connections. Over moulding can be used to assemble plastic parts onto a metal substrate and to mould one plastic over another having different properties.
